Meet Dr. Susanne Macsay
Licensed Naturopathic Doctor | Sedona, Arizona | LICENSED DENTIST | EUROPE/EU
Dr. Susy Macsay received her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, Arizona and she also has a Dental Degree from the Copenhagen Royal Dental School in Denmark.
Dr. Susy grew up in Denmark and has since childhood been passionately interested in the body, mind and soul connection. The synergy between the intellectual education of the mind, and the training and caring for the body as a competitive gymnast, laid the foundation for raising a family in that same Spirit.
Dr. Susy’s own children experienced severe food sensitivities from infancy, which inspired her to pursue her studies of Naturopathic Medicine, and in 2002 Dr. Susy and her family left Greece and moved to the Arizona desert where she entered Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, now called Sonoran University of Health Sciences.
Since 2008 Dr. Susy’s practice has brought her to different states, incorporating private as well as group practice and including more than 2 years of functional medicine, and 4-5 years of natural and integrative cancer care.
Dr. Susy lived in Puerto Rico for 3 years where she, as a professor at the Naturopathic Medicine program, taught several clinical didactic classes and served as a clinical supervisor for both general naturopathic care and acupuncture.
Sedona’s breathtaking red rocks called her to practice naturopathic and holistic cancer care in town from 2012-2014, and over a decade later she has now returned in the fall of 2025 to join her friend and colleague, Dr. Jessica Hayman’s beautiful clinic, Verde Valley Naturopathic Medicine.
Food sensitivities and gastrointestinal disease have always been close to Dr. Macsay’s heart due to her personal experience and so has holistic physical rehab and natural pain management due to later in life severe injuries.
The fact that Dr. Susy is an advanced yoga teacher with 500 hours of accreditation with the Yoga Alliance has allowed her to weave science, nature and spirit into her work with both students and patients, and adding 3 decades of experience with CranioSacral Therapy, founded on Dr. John Upledger’s system, has been another powerful component in her holistic way of practicing.
Being a dentist in Denmark and Greece for a brief time, and having worked as a doctor since 2008, Dr. Susy Macsay has by now cared for people with most common diseases spanning from teeth to toes. Adding her education in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture to the picture, the connection between the two medical fields has become increasingly apparent over the years.
In her free time, she enjoys Sedona’s and Verde Valley’s nature and hiking, movement (yoga, qi gong, dancing, etc.), meditation, cooking, writing, reading, listening to music and spending time with friends and family.
