Meet Dr. Evelyn Cordova

Licensed Naturopathic Doctor | Telemedicine in Arizona

Dr. Evelyn Cordova is a licensed naturopathic doctor who lives in Phoenix, Arizona. She is our Telemedicine physician for the state of Arizona.

Why Telemedicine?

My patients tell me it’s very convenient. Moms are able to schedule an appointment without arranging childcare. (I love meeting them!). Patients who work two jobs like the convenience. They don’t have to drive anywhere and yet can maintain routine labwork. If you are seeking a second opinion, Telemedicine is fantastic because you have all your records with you! I can transfer it to your chart note and care plan. If you live in a more rural area or are hesitant to leave home, then speaking to a doctor online is for you.

The connection I enjoy making with my patients is as real as seeing me in an office.

There are many non-emergency situations where scheduling a Telemedicine appointment is every bit as effective as seeing me in person.

What can you treat with Telemedicine?

Allergies

Allergies drain energy. Using video conferencing, I can see and listen to symptoms to address them wholistically and naturally. Zoom is a HIPAA protected platform that is safe and secure so that you can discuss all your medical needs. You may also choose to accept a phone conference in place of video.

There are many tools in naturopathy to improve allergies.

A few examples are homeopathy, plant medicine, and natural supplements. Nebulizers can be utilized to help clear lung heat (Chinese diagnosis). Via video, I can demonstrate how to set it up and use successfully at home for those with compromised lung health.

UTI

Ladies, bacteria know when it is the weekend. From the comfort of home or while you are at work, schedule a Telemedicine visit. We will compose a complete list of your specific symptoms and then formulate the best plan for you. A urinalysis with reflex can be ordered if needed. It is a good option because the lab grows the bacteria so that the specific strain causing the infection is known. Antibiotics can be prescribed if they are needed. It is the perfect combination of Eastern and Western medicine that is specific to your needs

Trivia: Men can get UTIs but not as often due to a longer urethra. The body has the ability to flush toxins more easily than the shorter urethra found in the female body.

Weight Loss

Are you on a weight loss journey?  A Telemedicine appointment can potentially bring a lot of clarity. Ask about macros, calorie count, physical exercise, and hydration. With the overwhelming number of health gurus and information overload, get grounded with a 1 on 1 session. I enjoy listening and creating a unique plan that you feel good about. Reminder, if shame and poor self talk worked - we’d all be there. Give yourself a peaceful Friday with an appointment and a treatment plan that gets you faster to your goals.

Hormones

Finally, the research is in!  Keeping your hormones balanced is a great way to feel fulfilled, happy, confident, and energetic. Hormone replacement therapy is quickly establishing itself as a foundational tool for physical, spiritual, and cognitive health. Many patients ask me, “Am I perimenopausal?” We can’t guess - but we can test!  The typical hormone panel for sex hormones is: progesterone, estrogen, estradiol, free and total testosterone, and DHEA-S.

Verde Valley Naturopathic Medicine offers Tuesday and Thursday mornings for you to complete your blood work. Since it is cash pay, there are no surprise charges. You will know exactly how much your labs will cost. If you have insurance, you may submit the lab requisition to them for possible reimbursement. Most large insurance plans will accept a requisition from an NMD in the state of Arizona. I do recommend my patients call their insurance before to avoid surprise charges. Testing is easy and I do a full panel so there is no guessing what your blood levels are.

Environmental Toxins

Which detox is best for you? Parasite versus gut cleanse? From water contamination to pesticides to common personal products, we can walk through your day to determine if you are at risk for endocrine distruptors. Many products can disrupt key hormones in the body.

Gut Health

Do you dread eating out because of an unreliable gut? If you know you have erratic bowel movements, bloating, gas, or flatulence, then further testing is needed. Ordering the GI Map is a great place to start for most patients. It is a stool sample that you complete at home and mail in the kit. When the report arrives, you schedule a follow up online at Fullslate to review the details.  It gives a complete list of what is present/missing from your gut. It’s perfect for forming a care plan specific to you.

Preparedness Kits

Are you traveling overseas and would like to take a care plan with you? We can review the proper supplements to take so that if sickness hits, you are ready!

Medication/Supplement Review

If you would like to be evaluated for medication you have been prescribed in the past, then schedule a new patient appointment or follow up if you are an established patient. Medications for high blood pressure, high sugar, or for depression may possibly be replaced with a natural supplement. Each person is different.

Are you wondering if you should be supplementing with Zinc? Magnesium? What about Vitamin C or D? Get the lab requisitions and lab results you need along with a naturopathic consultation to answer these questions.

This is not an exhaustive list

Additional concerns to schedule Telemedicine are: mental health,  pre/diabetes, asthma, acne, rashes, cold/flu, birth control counseling/management, medication refills, discussing lab results, autoimmune conditions.

More About Dr. Cordova

Dr. Cordova was drawn to the quiet beauty of the desert 14 years ago and has been here since. She received her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Sonoran University of Health Sciences. She obtained her MBA in Healthcare Services in 2023.

Naturopathic medicine was the only answer for her for both mood support and hormone regulation. She suffered from endometriosis for years before realizing there were amazing botanicals that brought back her life lost due to the pain of this condition. The body is truly a miracle and optimizes itself when it has everything it needs to heal. She never thought she could get out of painful periods with nature only but it certainly occurred. Since then she’s been devoted to helping others optimize their health.

She truly loves being a part of patient’s lives and witnessing their healing. She enjoys addressing hormones, weight loss, thyroid, digestive issues, mood/anxiety support among others. She is an excellent listener who creates care plans with her patients so they feel empowered.

Dr. Cordova received additional training in ozone, IV therapy and hormones, and peptide therapy. She is always learning and is a member of the AZ NMA. In her free time she enjoys music, foreign films, and good tea.
