Dr. Samuel Madeira

Licensed Naturopathic Doctor | Sedona, Arizona | Telemedicine in Arizona

Dr. Samuel Madeira is a licensed Arizona Naturopathic Medical Doctor (N.M.D.) with 14 years of clinical experience specializing in Environmental Medicine and helping patients recover from complex chronic illnesses, including mold illness, sewer gas exposure, Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS), Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), thyroid disorders, hormone imbalances, autoimmune diseases, and other difficult-to-diagnose chronic conditions using an evidence-informed, root-cause approach to medicine. He has spent the past 22 years studying herbal medicine and is passionate about combining the wisdom of traditional botanical therapies with modern integrative medicine.

In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Madeira serves as a Clinical Science Liaison for Microbiome Labs, where he educates healthcare practitioners across the United States on the latest advances in microbiome science, functional medicine, and clinical nutrition. Throughout his career, he has educated thousands of healthcare professionals through national conferences, webinars, podcasts, and scientific education while maintaining a deep commitment to compassionate, individualized patient care.

A native of Vermont and New Hampshire, Dr. Madeira began his academic journey at Prescott College in Prescott, Arizona (2002–2005). He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Herbal Sciences at Bastyr University in 2007, followed by his Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine, also from Bastyr University, in Seattle, Washington, in 2012.

His clinical passion is helping patients who have often "tried everything" finally discover the underlying causes of their health challenges. He believes every patient deserves to be heard, understood, and given a thoughtful, personalized treatment plan that addresses the root causes of illness—not simply the symptoms. By integrating advanced laboratory testing, nutrition, botanical medicine, lifestyle medicine, regenerative therapies, and evidence-informed natural medicine, he partners with patients to restore health, build resilience, and create lasting wellness.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Madeira enjoys hiking, skiing, traveling, writing, and exploring the natural beauty of Northern Arizona. He is excited to join Verde Valley Naturopathic Medicine Clinic and looks forward to serving the Sedona and Verde Valley communities by helping patients restore their health, resilience, and quality of life.
